Plat books can be an aid to genealogists for following land ownership in families and locating the names of neighbors of ancestors. Plat books contain maps of each township with land parcels outlined with the name of the land owner and acreage of parcel. Also the maps will list cemeteries, schools and roads. The scan at the right illustrates the available information. The bad news is that there is no index.
Logan county is in central Illinois and is surrounded by Mason, Menard, Sangamon, Tazewell, Mclean, DeWitt and Macon. The county seat is Lincoln. Other towns are Atlanta, Mt. Pulaski, Broadwell, Elkhart, Middletown and Hartsburg
